‘Maharaja’ on sale as Union Cabinet approves Air India’s disinvestment

New Delhi, June 28 (ANI): Clearing the path for Air India’s privatisation, Union Minister for Finance Arun Jaitley on Wednesday announced a government disinvestment in debt-ridden Air India. While addressing a press briefing, Jaitley said the Cabinet has given a nod of disinvestment and on the request of the Civil Aviation Ministry a group under his vigil will be constituted to decide on the modalities of the matter. This step comes in the view of Ministry of Civil Aviation plying ways to revive Air India, which is surviving on Rs 30,000 crore bailout package extended by the previous UPA regime.
