Flood victims await assistance from government

Birgunj (Nepal), Aug 18 (ANI): In Nepal, incessant rains have flooded hundreds of villages leaving many dead and several injured and the government has come under fire for not responding fast enough to the disaster. Hundreds of flood-hit families have been taking shelter in public places and local schools and living on empty stomachs without any proper relief and relocation. More than 26 districts in Terai region have been badly affected by flash floods triggered by incessant rainfall. A delegation led by Rashtriya Janta Party Nepal (RJP-N) leaders demanded to set up high-level National Level Reconstruction Authority to carry out relief and rehabilitation program and agreed to release 26 billion rupees for the relief work immediately.
