New Zealand, Aug 20 (ANI): New Zealand on Sunday mourned the death of All Blacks great Colin Meads, who passed away due to pancreatic cancer. Meads was diagnosed with cancer last year and breathed his last in hospital in his home town of Te Kuiti. Nicknamed as ‘Pinetree’ at an early age, Meads was named New Zealand’s greatest rugby player of the 20th Century in 1999. Meads, whose international career spanned for 14 years, also received a knighthood in 2009. His bronze statue was unveiled earlier this year in his hometown of Te Kuiti. Meads played 133 matches for the All Blacks between 1957 and 1971 and appeared in 55 Tests. With this the King Country lock earned an international reputation for his strong game.
