SC bars ‘triple talaq’ practice, calls it unconstitutional

New Delhi, Aug 22 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Tuesday barred ‘triple talaq’ declaring it as unconstitutional. Triple ‘talaq’ is a Muslim law under which a husband can divorce his wife simply by uttering the word ‘talaq’ thrice. According to reports, a panel of five judges stated that triple talaq “is not integral to religious practice and violates constitutional morality”.
