5,000 days of Chhattisgarh Government: This village remains bereft of drinking water

Balrampur (Chhattisgarh), Oct 13 (ANI): Though Chief Minister Raman Singh-led Government recently completed 5,000 days in Chhattisgarh, residents in several areas still yearn for minimal facilities. Bereft of drinking water, over 13,000 residents of Bhuneshwarpur village in Balrampur-Ramanujganj District are compelled to draw water from muddy and unclean river, puddles or ponds. Majority of the hand pumps have turned futile in this village. The villagers expressed agony, saying that the leaders only approach them during elections and never provide solutions later. The villagers’ woes exaggerate during monsoon season. Many village women have slipped off and suffered injuries while collecting drinking water. Schoolchildren are forced to walk miles to quench their thirst. Some villagers alleged that the tubewell installed by the administration was taken over by the village sarpanch. Situation of this village depicts how unfortunate people living in some parts of the nation are in this century.
