Sabarimala Temple Case: SC refers matter to Constitutional bench

New Delhi, Oct 13 (ANI): The Supreme Court has referred the matter of women’s entry in Sabarimala Temple to a Constitutional bench in its verdict on Friday. The apex court also raised six questions on the issue to be considered by the Constitutional bench. In January 2016, the court had questioned the ban, saying this cannot be done under the Constitution. The apex court had reserved an order on referring the case to a constitutional bench earlier in February. The top court has been hearing a PIL challenging the ban on entry of women into the Sabarimala hill temple. Situated in Pathanamthitta district, the temple restricts women aged between 10 and 50 from embarking the pilgrimage.
