Speaking of how cruel the abuse can be, the songbird recalls, “Travelling in public transport, I came across a lady who was talking loud over phone. She had come after offering prayers to Goddess for granting a daughter in law of milky while complexion”. If this type of mentality prevails and women are judged by their skin color, those with dark complexion would definitely face abuses and violence.

Soumita has been tirelessly campaigning against this mental state of society which reduces woman to mere objects, which is often body shamed, abuse and violated due to a plethora of reasons. She has used her social media fan following, her music videos to end this discrimination.
