Shimla (Himachal Pradesh), Mar 15 (ANI): The population of the cat family has seen a happy rise in the Himalayas. The endangered snow leopards in Himalaya’s Spiti have increased significantly. In a rare sight, snow leopards were spotted in the Valley of Shimla’s Spiti earlier this month, some in groups, indicating their population in the cold desert was growing. As part of the efforts the Himachal Pradesh Government has taken to protecting blue sheep and wild goats, which comprise the prey base of snow leopards, to ensure the survival of the state animal.
