Anti-Sterlite protest: Opposition parties call for shutdown

Chennai, May 25 (ANI): Amid the ongoing anti-Sterlite row, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) called for shutdown in Chennai’s Egmore to protest against the killing during the anti-Sterlite protest in Thoothukudi. Congress party also joined the protest. The opposition parties are demanding justice for the Sterlite victims. On May 22, 13 people were killed and several were injured during protests against the construction of a new copper smelter by the Sterlite industries in Tamil Nadu’s Thoothukudi.
