Thoothukudi (Tamil Nadu), May 23 (ANI): Security has been tightened in Tamil Nadu’s Thoothukudi after eleven people were killed on May 22 during protests against Sterlite industries. Section 144 has been imposed in the city. The month-long protest of the locals, demanding the closure of the Sterlite Copper plant in Thoothukudi over pollution concerns, turned violent on Tuesday. More than 65 people have been injured in the clashes between agitated protestors and police officials.
