Centuries old artistic shawls put on display in Srinagar

Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir), May 24 (ANI): To promote the heritage tourism, Shri Pratap Singh (SPS) Museum in Srinagar displayed centuries old shawls. The exhibition is organised by the Directorate of Archives, Archaeology and Museums. Kashmir valley has more than thousand years old rich cultural history. This valley of Sufi and saint’s produced number of artisans whose unique hand work in Papier-mache, wood carving and especially in shawl. Shawl works in the state have no comparison all over the world. Despite modernisation, authorities have preserved some rare and centuries old items including Kashmiri handmade shawls.
