Floods in Tripura leave many families homeless

Chandrapur (Tripura), May 21 (ANI): Hundreds of families became homeless after the floods at the adjoining areas of river Howrah which is flowing 0.3 meter above danger level following incessant rain during last 48 hours. District Masgistrate of West Tripura, Sandip Mahate said ” The water of Howrah river is flowing at 10.3 meter which is .3 meter above danger level. The affected people by the side of the river banks have been shifter in 16 flood relief camps in which 670 families are living. This may increase as rescue operations is going on by NDRF, TSR and Civil Defense in 16 boats. Administration has arranged for food supply and drinking water beside medical emergency are being referred to hospital.” The heavy rainfall since Saturday created havoc in the city throwing the lives of the people out of gear.
