Over hundred tribal couples tie knot at mass wedding in Siliguri

Siliguri (West Bengal), May 20 (ANI): As many as 101 couples from across West Bengal’s Siliguri district tied the nuptial knot on Sunday. The marriages were held according to Hindu rituals amid blushing brides, happy grooms and grooving family members and relatives. The organisers gifted a number of basic commodities, clothing items, sweets, and some amount of cash to the couples to begin this new chapter of their lives. The Banbasi Kalyan Ashram (Tribal welfare shrine) organized the mass wedding ceremony. Mass marriages are becoming a popular phenomenon in the country. They are conducted to lessen the financial burden on the deprived classes of the society and the community as a whole.
