Trained extensively for 3 years, learnt navigation & sailing: Lt Commander Pratibha Jamwal

New Delhi, May 23 (ANI): Lieutenant Commander (Air Traffic Control specialists), Pratibha Jamwal, one of the all-women crew members of the INSV Tarini, which circumnavigated the globe, said that it took three years for the crew to train extensively and learn navigation and sailing. She said, “We were selected from different cadres & trained extensively for 3 years where we learnt about navigation and sailing. We started from Goa on 10 September and covered 5000 nautical miles to Australia on first leg. Crossing South Pacific Ocean was most difficult task. We crossed Cape Horn, where we encountered a storm with winds of 70 knots and waves as high as 9 meters.”
