2-day colourful Buddhist festival underway in Leh

Leh (Jammu and Kashmir), Jun 13 (ANI): A two-day annual Buddhist festival began on a grand note in one of the most ancient monasteries in Jammu and Kashmir’s Leh district on Tuesday. As part of the festival, monks, dressed in colourful traditional costumes, perform sacred dances and rituals wearing masks representing the guardian deities. A Buddhist monk said that dance was a form of meditation. Nestled in the Himalayas and home to over 150 monks, Lamayuru Monastery is one of the biggest Buddhist monasteries in the country.
