Chitkul (Himachal Pradesh), Jun 16 (ANI): Trekkers on the Borasu Pass near Himachal Pradesh’s Chitkul village were left stranded on Friday after a spell of heavy snowfall. The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP)’s 50th battalion reached the spot to rescue the stranded trekkers. An SOS call was made on June 13 after almost 12 trekkers, 10 porters and a guide were reported stranded due to the snow. One trekker even died after falling sick, while the group was on their way to Chitkul from Uttarakhand’s Har Ki Dun via Ranikanda. The ITBP battalion established contact with the group and reached the spot with mountaineering equipment. They have also established a rescue base camp now.
