Ludhiana (Punjab), Jul 30 (ANI): An event was organised on Monday by Aagaz Foundation at Government Senior Secondary School in Ludhiana’s Haibowal Khurd in Punjab. Saniya Malhi, associated with the Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) Aagaz Foundation and Jeet Foundation educated young girls about the importance of using sanitary napkins and also about the medical issues related to not changing the sanitary napkin in regular intervals. The girls were also educated on proper ways to dispose the used napkins in order to save the environment. Malhi distributed sanitary napkins from the sanitary napkin vending machine earlier installed by her at the school. Malhi works actively in rural areas of Punjab to educate about the biological changes that occur in the female body and the hygiene associated with menstruation. She regularly conducts awareness drives to break the deeply rooted orthodox stigmas attached with menstruation. She is also raising funds from different organizations and individuals for the efficient working of these NGOs. Initiatives such as these have resulted in creating awareness about affordable sanitary products and disposable units in scores of villages among these young women.
