Apple farmers adopt anti-hail nets to protect crop in Shimla

Shimla (HP), Jul 10 (ANI): Apple growers in Himachal Pradesh’s Shimla have now started covering apple groves with anti-hail nets. The apple farmers in rural Shimla, Kinnaur and Kullu districts of state are now trying to protect their crop from hailstorm and other natural disasters. The apple farmers say that their crop is more protected in hail prone areas with the nets and it costs them to cover one plant nearly Rs. 600 to 800. Anti-hail nets cost Rs 1- 2 lakhs to farmers to cover the apple orchards of nearly for half a hectare area. Farmers have even started growing other crops with apple plants covered with anti-hail nets.
