Basis of the NGT’s direction is that no one should harm themselves: NGT Lawyer

New Delhi, Jul 28 (ANI): National Green Tribunal (NGT) Lawyer Gaurav Bansal on Saturday said, “The basis for installing a display board is that no one should in the name of faith cause harm to themselves.” He added, “River Ganga’s water in some areas has become so hazardous that in light of this court has directed the authorities to put display boards if water there is safe for drinking/bathing, so that in the name of religious beliefs people don’t harm their health.” Earlier, NGT directed the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) to install display boards at a gap of every 100 kilometres, indicating whether the water is fit for bathing or drinking. The tribunal also directed to install the display boards at shorter intervals where there is more habitation.
