Devotees throng Jagannath Temple ahead of Rath Yatra

Puri (Odisha), Jul 13 (ANI): Devotees are thronging Odisha’s Puri city to witness the annual Rath Yatra or the chariot festival that will commence from tomorrow. Scores of devotes gathered to pay obeisance at the chariot which will start its journey from Jagannath Temple to Gundicha Temple, about 3 km from the main temple. Three chariots are constructed annually for the festival in which idols are placed ceremonially after they’re bathed and further decorated for devotees. “I’ve never seen such a big chariot; such big chariot are rare for the sight so constructing these big chariots is must be quite difficult,” said a devotee. The annual Rath Yatra festival has been celebrated for the last 1,000 years. It commemorates Lord Krishna’s return to his home in Vrindavan, after a long period.
