Mountaineering team finds mortal remains of IAF personnel died in 1968 crash

Manali (HP), Jul 21 (ANI): A mountaineering team who was on an expedition in Himachal Pradesh found remains of AN-12, an aircraft of the Indian Air Force that crashed in the Lahaul-Spiti valley in 1968. The mountaineers located the body of one of the soldiers on board along with some parts of the aircraft. The mountaineers were on clean-up expedition to the Chandrabhaga. ”While returning back from the final approach, we found the remains of the plane crash that happened in 1968 and as we walked a few steps we found a dead body” said a mountaineer. The remains were found at the Dhaka glacier base camp, 6,200 metres above sea level. Rescue operation will commence soon.
