Kondagaon (Chhattisgarh), Aug 11 (ANI): Naxals have unleashed mayhem on the tribals of Kondagaon district in Chhattisgarh. A number of tribals, whom Naxals consider a threat to their existence, are being meted out with atrocities and are being forcefully evicted from their homes. Exasperated with their shrinking influence and successful operations of the security forces in the region, Naxals are now targeting the family members of police personnel. Tribals, accused of being police informants, are beaten and sometimes even hacked to death by the Naxals. These Naxals, who otherwise proclaim to be defenders of tribal rights, are actually the ones stonewalling the progress of beleaguered tribals and are creating regular hindrances in the developmental projects of the government. Disillusioned with the regressive and violent ideology of these left-wing radicals, tribals in the region are reaching out to avail the benefits of the government schemes that have been floated exclusively for them. Tribals want development; they want to be a part of the mainstream and for that they have started to challenge the authority of the Naxals. They are breaking the shackles of coercion and oppression which is hurting the Naxals most.
