Flood-like situation in Kochi’s downstream areas after Cheruthoni dam releases water

Kochi (Kerala), Aug 15 (ANI): Heavy and incessant rain continues to lash Kerala. Residents of Kochi are facing flood-like situation as Cheruthoni dam released extra water due to incessant rains. People are facing problems as water has entered their houses. On August 14th, all five shutters of Cheruthoni dam were opened to maintain water level. Idukki dam is Asia’s biggest arch dam. It was opened after 26 years last week as the water level inched towards its maximum capacity.
