Herbal food exhibition held in Srinagar to revive traditional Kashmiri food

Srinagar (J&K), Aug 18 (ANI): A herbal food exhibition was held at Institiute of Hotel Management (IHM), Rajbagh in Srinagar in Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) to revive traditional Kashmiri food and culture in the strife-torn province. The exhibition organised on August 16, witnessed visitors in large numbers to learn about herbal food and vegetables grown in forests that were used in the earlier times. Traditional dishes were also prepared during the exhibition to give a taste of the past to the visitors and make them adopt healthy eating habits. An environmentalist Muhammad Ramzan said, such exhibitions should be organised more often as it will attract people towards herbal products and help them get rid of chemicals and fertilizers. Unrest has simmered in Kashmir, home to a separatist movement, for decades. An insurgency that erupted in 1989 against India has eased in recent years, but most Kashmiris yearn for independence, accuse security forces of widespread rights abuses and some support the few hundred militants still fighting. Such activities reduce chances of radicalization of Kashmiri youth by foreign fighters, infiltrating from across the Indian border, who bring weapons and inspirations, but who need local support to thrive.
