New Delhi, Aug 13 (ANI): Former Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari mourned the death of Former Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee on Monday. Ansari said, “He was a very eminent parliamentarian and a man of great erudition, a speaker who added lustre to the chair. In his passing away, we have lost a very eminent personality. He has left behind a void.” Chatterjee, who was admitted in a private hospital on August 10, breathed last at 8:15 am today. According to doctors, he had a cardiac arrest. The Communist Party of India (Marxist) veteran was suffering from kidney ailment and was put on ventilator support on Saturday. He suffered a hemorrhagic stroke in July. Born on July 25, 1929, Chatterjee was a 10-time Lok Sabha MP. He was one of the longest-serving parliamentarians in India. He served as the Speaker of the Lok Sabha from 2004 to 2009. Chatterjee won the Outstanding Parliamentarian Award in 1996.
