Dharamsala (Himachal Pradesh), Aug 05 (ANI): Tibetans in-exile in Himachal Pradesh’s Dharamsala, called out the Chinese government, on the recently issued white paper, saying the latter’s recent claims about valuing ecological progress, were full of lies and contradictions. The Chinese government on August 01 had issued a white paper about ecological progress on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, which is a key eco-safety barrier in China and Asia, and a focus of the country’s drive to conserve ecological diversity. The government-in exile has been functioning in India since 1960 for over 100,000 Tibetans, after the current Dalai Lama and many others left Tibet following a failed uprising against Chinese occupation of their homeland in 1959. The Dalai Lama has long been at loggerheads over Tibet with China, which brands him a reactionary and separatist. The Dalai Lama, who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989, says he seeks greater rights, including religious freedom and true autonomy for Tibetans.
