Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh), Sep 02 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inspected Goithaha sewage treatment plant in Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi late Saturday night. After inspecting the project, the CM said, “For the development of Varanasi many projects have come up. ‘Under Namami Gange initiative, project is underway to clean river Ganga from Gangotri to Gangasagar. The project of Goithaha’s Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) is a part of it. This sewer with the capacity of 120 MLD is being ready to be cleaned with the investment of Rs 118 crore. This project will be completed by 30th September.” The National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) approved projects worth nearly Rs 150 crores in Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal under the Namami Gange programme. These projects include Interception and Diversion (I&D) works where small rivers, rivulets, and drains are intercepted before they empty into the main river, and are diverted to STP so that the water that finally drains into the main river is clean.
