New Delhi, Sep 09 (ANI): Diplomat-Poet Abhay K launched his new book titled “The Eight-Eyed Lord of Kathmandu” in capital New Delhi. The book, unlike its name suggests, does not only focus on the capital city of the Himalayan nation, but explores the beauty of the whole nation, at the same time giving glimpses into the lives of Gautam Buddha and Laxmi Prasad Devkota, a famous Nepali poet, playwright and novelist. Staying in Nepal for about three and a half years as the Indian Ambassador in Kathmandu, Abhay K not only captured the beauty of the place and its heritage, he also saw the sufferings of the people who went abroad in search of employment. An avid lover of mountains, the diplomat currently posted in Brazil, remembers the Himalayan nation as a nation of mountains. The diplomat-poet finds many similarities in the cultures of India and Nepal. There are festivals that the two nations have in common and the dressing style is very similar, he vividly remembers. Being from Bihar in India, he says that the Nepali food holds a special place in his heart. Abhay K, who joined the Indian Foreign Service in 2003, has several books to his credit, including The Seduction of Delhi, Candling the Light and Fallen Leaves of Autumn among many more. A nominee of the Pushcart Prize and an awardee of the SAARC Literary Award, Abhay K’s poems startle and heal and give humanistic outlook to Indian English Poetry.
