Infrastructural gaps, vacancy in subordinate courts are reasons behind delay in cases: President Kovind

New Delhi, Sep 01 (ANI): While addressing a gathering in the national capital, President Ram Nath Kovind said, “Indian legal system is marked by long delays. There is a backlog of 3.3 crore cases in various courts. Of these, 2.84 crore cases are in subordinate courts, 43 lakh in the High Courts and about 58,000 in the Supreme Court. There are various reasons for this. There are infrastructural gaps and considerable vacancy, particularly in subordinate courts”.
