New Delhi, Sep 16 (ANI): The Supreme Court Wednesday said its 2006 decision in the M Nagaraj case on the reservation for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in job promotions does not require reconsideration by a larger bench. The top court has maintained reservation on promotion of the Scheduled castes/Scheduled tribes (SC/ST). Lawyer Manoj Gorkela said, “We had made filed a plea that M Nagaraj should be finished. The court said that there is no need to collect quantified data on the case. The court has also upheld that SC/ST does not need backwardness collection. The case was not referred to larger bench. Through this judgement the SC/ST people have received a big relief.” A five bench court had pronounced the judgement. The final judgment in the case is yet to come.
