Nagpur (Maharashtra), Sep 10 (ANI): People gathered in Nagpur to celebrate city’s ancestral ‘Marbat’ festival on Monday. People carried marbats (clay effigies) of ‘Kali’ (black) and ‘Pivli’ (yellow) in a procession to different parts of the city to celebrate the ‘Marbat’ festival. The two effigies of ‘Kali’ and ‘Pivli’ are used as symbols to express repressed anger of common people against government decisions and wrong policies. Marbat festival, held specially in the Nagpur city, is an important festival in this region which is celebrated to protect the city from evil spirits.
