Naxals block construction of bridge using violent means

Chatra (Jharkhand), Sep 08 (ANI): Chatra district is one of the many districts in Jharkhand where work on development has been affected by the presence of Naxals even though their presence has reduced significantly in recent years. The Naxals active in Chatra district engage in some form of violence time and again in order to keep their presence alive. Recently, a bridge which was being constructed to connect two villages in the district was stopped by Naxals. According to reports, as many as 10-15 Naxals threatened the contractor and pressurized him to pay them tax. Upon refusing, the Naxals not only thrashed the contractor but also used their brute force on the poor workers, injuring many. This turned out to be the second time that the Naxals had halted the construction of the bridge. The Naxals who portray themselves to be the caretakers for the rights of the poor and weak are the real ones who keep them poor and weak. The evil face of the Naxals is thereby getting exposed and has led to the many of their supporters abandoning them.
