Ghatshila (Jharkhand), Sep 08 (ANI): Naxals, who have been the biggest hurdle to development, continue to wreak havoc in parts of Jharkhand. In order to scare off locals and tourists from visiting the Burudih Dam, a major tourist attraction in Jharkhand’s Ghatshila town, the radicals went as far to plant landmines in the area. The Burudih Dam was constructed with an agenda to employ the tribals of the region. But the Naxals, who claim to be friends of the tribals, have taken away the opportunity of employment from them and have them with little to no means to sustain their livelihood. The landmine explosion killed seven security personnel. These heinous acts by the left radicals have the locals and tourists in hysteria. The once popular attraction has lost its appeal. Despite the government’s attempt to make the travels safer in the area—by starting patrolling and having armed security at night—the Maoists have not only prevailed, but have been causing serious troubles for the local populace. The pretentious supporters of the tribes continue to deprecate quality of life and development in the area.
