New Delhi, Sep 01 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that through bringing India Post Payments Bank (IPPB), our government is doing the work of Reform, Perform and Transform.” The Prime Minister while addressing a gathering on the launch of IPPB at the Talkatora Indoor Stadium in New Delhi said, “India Post has more than 1.5 lakh branches spread across India, out of which 1.25 lakh are in villages. Our government took the responsibility to link the postal department’s vast network with technology.” The new payments bank will leverage the vast network of India Post to make available basic banking facilities to those yet not availing the benefits of banking. IPPB will have 650 branches and 3250 access points spread across the country. All the 1.55 lakh Post Offices in the country will be linked to the IPPB system by December 31, 2018. IPPB will offer a range of services such as savings and current accounts, money transfer, direct benefit transfers, bill and utility payments, and enterprise and merchant payments.
