Red Sand Boa snake smuggling attempt thwarted in Moradabad

Moradabad (Uttar Pradesh), Sep 26 (ANI): The Police and Forest Department arrested three Red Sand Boa snake smugglers in Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad. Smugglers were on their way to Mumbai with 2.5-feet-long snake. Red Sand Boa snake can fetch as high as Rs 1 core in the black market. Non-venomous Red Boa snakes are in high demand for mythical and medicinal purposes. “The Red Boa snake is protected in Schedule 4 of Wildlife Protection Act and whoever found in trading the snake can be jailed for 7 years”, said DFO Kanhaiya Kumar.
