Ranchi (Jharkhand), Sept 15 (ANI): The violent and outdated ideology of Naxalism is on its deathbed as its cadre strength has been shrinking at an unprecedented rate for the past few years. Disillusioned with the violent ideology and a pervasive atmosphere of exploitation in the Naxal camps, the members have realised the futility of pursuing a fake ideology-driven war against the establishment. Even the Naxals who have risen through ranks in past decades and hold a prominent position in cadre are abandoning guns to join the mainstream. Kargil Yadav, a Naxal commander who surrendered to the Jharkhand government, says the prevailing subjugation and exploitation inside the red walls was the reason behind leaving the Naxal ranks. It is not just the oppression inside the camps but a widespread infrastructure development initiative by the government aimed at improving socio-economic standards of Adivasis has prompted these ex-Naxals to detach themselves from the violence. The infrastructure development has brought basic facilities like education, healthcare, employment more accessible to the local villagers, thereby dissuading them from joining the ranks of the Naxals.
