Clash breaks out between police & residents of Footi colony during anti-encroachment drive in Gwalior

Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh), Oct 02 (ANI): A clash broke out between police and residents of Footi colony during an anti-encroachment drive in Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior. On High Court’s order to evict around 500 locals living ‘illegaly’ in Footi colony, the Madhya Pradesh police carried out an anti-encroachment drive on October 1. When residents resisted leaving their homes, police resorted to baton charge. Residents pelted stones in retaliation. The anti-encroachment drive has been put to rest temporarily. People have been living in Footi colony from last 10-15 years. Madhya Pradesh High Court has ordered for eviction of the people staying ‘illegally’ in Footi colony. Residents, who mainly constitute labour class, dalits and backward classes, are enraged over HC’s order.
