Hyderabadi women begin bike rally to promote Bathukamma festival, women empowerment

Hyderabad, Oct 09 (ANI): To mark Bathukamma festival, nine Hyderabadi women bike riders have started a nine days bike rally from Hyderabad. The women riders will ride their motorbikes through the major nine districts of Telangana. Aim of the bike rally is to promote Bathukamma festival and women empowerment in the state. The festival is a vibrant and colourful floral festival celebrated with fervor by women. Bathukamma, meaning ‘Mother Goddess come Alive’, is celebrated towards the end of monsoon and heralds the abundance that nature has to offer. The festival carries immense importance and significance in the state, and over the years has become indelibly linked with its cultural identity. It begins on the day of Mahalaya Amavasya, and is celebrated with much fanfare for nine days. The riders have also planned to include the Handlooms of Telangana and SHE Teams. Women riders will also try different outfits of Telangana handlooms. The rally will culminate with a major event and a fashion show in Hyderabad on the final day of Bathukamma.
