Jammu (J&K), Oct 05 (ANI): National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) has started widening of the Jammu-Akhnoor stretch of the national highway. The road widening work consists of four-lane and a service lane below. Heavy traffic had made this road prone to accidents and therefore the locals demanded widening of the stretch. This has also been done to reduce the travel time. This is a lifeline for those living in border areas and for those who come to Jammu for medical emergencies. MG Vijay Kumar, General Manager (P), NHIDCL said, “Jammu-Akhnoor road is a very important road for Jammu. The road will have four-lane on top and it will have a service lane below. The locals will be profited by this. This is a 2.2 km elevated road.” The 30-km long Jammu-Aknoor road will be widened on the line of the Akhnoor bypass.
