Soccer training held for girls in Srinagar to boost sports

Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir), Oct 01 (ANI): A soccer training session for girls was held in Srinagar to give boost to the sport and encourage more girls to take part in physical activities. Aspiring soccer players from different regions of the state took part in both practical and theoretical sessions under the guidance of US-based trainers to gain knowledge about the sport. The session was organised by Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council in joint collaboration with US-based organisation Goals for Girls and Tata Trust. A trainer, Jackie said the aim of the session was to help girls gain confidence and teach them life lessons through the sport. Unrest has simmered in Kashmir, home to a separatist movement, for decades. An insurgency that erupted in 1989 against India has eased in recent years, but most Kashmiris yearn for independence and some support the few hundred militants still fighting. However, such recreational activities in the state help youngsters to shun violence and get on the path of development.
