Adivasis in Dantewada vow to vote despite Naxal threats

Dantewada (Chhattisgarh), Nov 03 (ANI): Undeterred by increasingly hostile atmosphere created by Naxals to obstruct the democratic exercise of elections, tribals are ready to participate in the upcoming assembly polls in Datewada district of Chhattisgarh. For years, Naxals have been unleashing mayhem in the region and creating hindrances for democracy to sustain in the region. While the tribals have been reeling in abject poverty, the Naxals have wallowed in luxury for many years. Tribals were forced to follow Naxals as they promised them a better life which they never delivered on. Tribals this time however are not getting lured by any Naxal promise and are ready to oust them by voting. In a desperate bid to hamper the swift constitutional developments, rattled Naxals carried out a deadly attack in the region only days ago, killing a media person and two security personnel. Apart from the coercive methods, Naxals have also been trying to persuade voters to boycott the polls. However they have received no success.
Elections are essence of any thriving democracy and the determined tribals of Dantewada will prove it correct this time. Disillusioned with decades old Naxal ideology, tribals will now choose their own leader.
