Gorakhpur (Uttar Pradesh), Nov 13 (ANI): Chhath Puja is being celebrated with much fervour across the country. On the occasion, Gorakhpur-based women donning thick vermillion layer on their head prayed to Sun God. Thousands of devotees gathered at Surajkund Dham and gave their offerings to Sun God on the third of the four-day festival. Chhath is an ancient Hindu Vedic festival celebrated more specifically in states of Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. It is a festival in which the Sun is worshipped. During these days, people express gratitude towards Sun God.
