Odisha Govt declares drought in nine districts

Bhubaneswar (Odisha), Nov 01 (ANI): The Odisha government has declared nine districts of the state as drought-affected after these areas showed huge crop loss. Prabhat Ranjan Mohapatra, Joint Relief Commissioner of the state said, “One state drought monitoring cell is continuously monitoring drought situation in the state. The cell found that in the field there has been loss. In one field verification we found that 2.33 lakh hectares of land has suffered crop loss of 33% or more, on basis of such reports from agriculture dept, government of Odisha has declared drought in those areas comprising 5,633 villages in 66 blocks in 9 districts. The affected farmers to get agriculture input subsidy under SDRF and NDRF norms ie Rs 6800/hectare up to 2 hectares in case of non-irrigated land, Rs 13500 per hectare in case of irrigated land and if it’s perennial crop, Rs 18000 per hectare.”
