Hyderabad, Nov 21 (ANI): Ahead of the December 7 assembly polls in Telangana, senior Congress leader P Chidambaram on Wednesday accused the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) of being a proxy of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and that TRS needs to be defeated in Telangana just as BJP in other states. Chidambaram said, “TRS has grossly overpromised, and grossly underperformed. After nearly 5 years of TRS government, Telangana has a debt of 2,20,000 crore rupees. The battle across the nation is between the Congress and other progressive parties on the one side and the BJP on the other. In Telangana, the TRS is a proxy of BJP. Just as it is important to defeat the BJP in other states, it is important to defeat the TRS in Telangana.” Chidambaram added, “The Congress party has put together a formidable alliance in Telangana. I appeal to the people of Telangana to vote for Congress, TDP, TJS and CPI alliance.”
