Thane (Maharashtra), Dec 01 (ANI): Three poachers were arrested for smuggling Deer’s skin and horns in Thane district of Maharashtra. On receiving a tip off, Mumbra Police laid an ambush on the road from Amravati to Thane and caught hold of the offenders. The arrests were made on Nov 28 under section 02, 09, 39, 48, 48A, 49 and 51 of the act. Deer is a protected species under the 1972 Wildlife Protection Act, and killing these animals is an offence under the act. The market value of these items are around Rs 50 lakh, police informed. In international market, its value gets tripled.
