Former CBI Chief Alok Verma refuses to take charge as DG Fire Services

New Delhi, Jan 11 (ANI): Former Central Bureau of Investigation Director Alok Verma refused to take charge as Director General of Fire Services. Alok Verma was reinstated as CBI Chief on Supreme Court’s order; however, a high-level PM Narendra Modi-led committee ousted him before his tenure which was to be completed on January 31. Verma’s fate was decided after a long meeting at PMO which was attended by Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge and Justice AK Sikri, who was nominated by CJI Ranjan Gogoi. Additional Director M Nageshwar Rao has been given interim charge of CBI. A statement said, “Natural justice was scuttled and the entire process was turned upside down in ensuring that the undersigned is removed from the post of the Director.” All transfer orders issued by Alok Verma during his tenure have been reversed by Interim Director M Nageshwar Rao”, said CBI sources.
