Shillong (Meghalaya), Jan 01 (ANI): Rescue efforts continued for the 20th day, as 13 miners who were trapped in a coal mine in Saipung area of Meghalaya’s East Jaintia Hills, are still to be evacuated safely. The Indian Navy, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and other agencies have stepped up efforts to rescue the trapped miners. The Odisha Fire Service, too, has joined the rescue operation. “Odisha Fire Service is trying its best to run the machine and insert pumps inside (the coal mine) to take out the water,” said R Susngi, District PRO, East Jaintia Hills.
