No need for sedition law in today’s times, it is colonial law: Kapil Sibal

New Delhi, Jan 16 (ANI): The Congress party on Monday questioned the filing of a chargesheet in a case of sedition against former Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) Students Union President Kanhaiya Kumar and his colleagues. The party called for a debate on the law of sedition. Speaking on the same, Congress leader Kapil Sibal said, “There is no need for a sedition law in today’s times, it is a colonial law. Many who merely speak or tweet against the Government have sedition charges imposed against them; it is being misused by Centre just to keep citizens in check.”
