Pranab Mukherjee, Nanaji Deshmukh, Bhupen Hazarika honoured with Bharat Ratna

New Delhi, Jan 26 (ANI): Former President Pranab Mukherjee, late legendry classical singer Bhupen Hazarika and late social activist Nanaji Deshmukh were on January 25th awarded with the highest civilian honour, Bharat Ratna. Pranab Mukherjee was the president from 2012 to 2017. During his career, spanning five years, he held various key posts. Hazarika, an Assamese, was a legendry singer, lyricist and musician. He was born on 8th September 1926 and passed away on 5th November 2011. Deshmukh, a Sangh ideologue was a social activist and had earlier been awarded with Padma Vibhushan. Just after the announcement of the award, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to the three awardees.
