New Delhi, Jan 09 (ANI): The Rajya Sabha today passed Constitution (124th Amendment) Bill, 2019 with 165 ‘ayes’ and 7 ‘noes’. The Constitution Bill provides 10 per cent reservation in government jobs and admission in higher educational institutions to economically weaker people in general category. The Bill will now go to President for approval to become a law. It was moved by Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Thaawarchand Gehlot. Total percentage of reservation will now go to 60 % surpassing the 50% mark ceiling prescribed by Supreme Court.
